THEA1200: the comeback I’m waiting for

A familiar shape. A new chapter.

My working Amiga 500 still has a place here. That is exactly why THEA1200 catches my attention: a new machine with the familiar keyboard-computer shape, ready to bring the Amiga feeling back to a modern desk. This is one of the projects I’m especially looking forward to.

What has been announced

Retro Games describes a full-size working keyboard, Amiga 500/600/1200 emulation and 25 included games. HDMI, USB, a mouse and a gamepad bring the concept into today’s living room. Own games can be loaded via USB, with WHDLoad support.

More than a game carousel

PLAION lists Workbench 3.1 and RTG graphics for compatible software. That desktop side interests me as much as the games: launching programs, exploring the system and using the keyboard again. The listed price is €189.99; release and shipping are announced for 4 December 2026. A suitable power adapter is required separately.

My watchlist

Wings is among the announced included titles and is already one of my favorites. Monkey Island, Pirates! and Ports of Call also belong to my personal Amiga shortlist; I’ll be looking at compatibility with these classics. At launch, I want to see how the keyboard feels, how the desktop behaves and how smoothly games run. Those impressions will need hands-on time.

RETRO #001

THEA1200: das Comeback, auf das ich warte

Vertraute Form.

Was angekündigt ist
